Twenty-three Years of Learning and Moving On

Thank You to You All

Twenty-three years—a flash in time for some, an eternity for others. For me at the moment, it’s simply my entire living journey—a journey in which I am grateful for all its joy and sorrow, its hardships and pleasure, as well as its passion and madness.

Waktu yang Kita Miliki

Semua menunjukkan waktu. JK, Nv Ben Svlt Gy Ook Weesen." Yang artinya,"Seperti anda sekarang, demikianlah aku sebelumnya. Seperti aku sekarang, demikianlah juga anda kelak".

Menyambut hari kasih sayang

“I Love You with All My… Liver?!”

A Semi-Fictional Script

Oliver Wendell Holmes and the Old Ironsides

In 1830, young Oliver Holmes wrote a contradictive poem entitled 'The Old Ironsides'. The poem was about a United States Navy battleship USS Constitution that was about to be dismantled. This fictional script adopts the setting similar to that of a television talkshow. Although the characters represented in the script are not completely accurate and some even blundered for comedy effects, the facts about Mr Holmes and USS Constitution are real.

The Strategic Case of Climate Change for Indonesia

It is critical to frame the issue of climate change as a problem to the population. It should not be seen only as a problem to the environment, since it also poses grave challenges to social and economic development. Planet Earth has been in existence for more than four billion years and has gone through solar storms, meteor impacts and several ice ages. Several dozens of high-grade hurricanes and meters of rising sea level will not jeopardize the planet as much as it will demolish the people living on it.The window of opportunity for Indonesia to embed climate change considerations into its development plan and muster international support to undertake a low carbon development is still open – but not for long.

    Who Knew?

For all its pivotal utilities, the calendar system also sets benchmarks in our lives so that we can see our life journey in sections like days, months, and years. It enables us to review our past and plan for the future. But most of the time we do not know the full extent of what we do today will bring us in the future. Just like we didn’t know that something small in the past actually brought something we value dearly.

  • Pen mightier than sword: The Story behind the notorious emblem

The focal theme of the insignia was inspired by Edward Bulwer-Lytton's classic in his Richeliu play:

“Beneath the rule of men entirely great, the pen is mightier than the sword”

    The MP Insignia

Indeed, through exchange of ideas and constructive debates, violence and war should have no place in humanity. However, the precondition advocated in the quote is the biggest challenge of all: great minds and conscious must reign.

SwordThat is why, a dove with an olive branch are placed on top of the grip. They symbolize universal peace and harmony that have been craved, fought, and destroyed throughout civilizations. It has been a defiant struggle to establish and maintain peace and thus the sword. On a personal note, the sword also captures an element of a gallant archangel St. Michael that drew his sword to defeat evil.

SwordThe tip of the sword is nonetheless a fountain pen. It signifies a battle of ideas, thoughts, and concepts through writings, discussions, and debates all the things that can be mightier than sword.
